The Miles Automotive Group is a company founded by Miles Rubin in 2004 with headquarters in Santa Monica , California , USA . The company's aim is to develop and sell electric vehicles. The company maintains the Miles vehicle brand for small and commercial vehicles. All vehicles offered by the Miles Automotive Group are manufactured in the People's Republic of China by Tianjin Qingyuan Electric Vehicle Co. Ltd. manufactured. Good Clean Tech presented the Miles Automotive Group with the Electric Car Company of 2007 Award .

In the United States, the Miles Automotive Group was the first automobile supplier to source its vehicles from the People's Republic of China. When sales began, the United States Department of Transportation , California Emission Control Agency, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Agency went to the company and tested the vehicles. This made them the first NEVs worldwide that had been crash-tested up to that point . All models offered comply with the DOT / NHTSA Federal Standard 500 . The maximum speed of the vehicles is accordingly limited to a maximum speed of 25  mph .

Miles ZX40 and Xinfu Happy Messenger

The Miles ZX40 was the first passenger car model sold by Miles . The basis for the vehicle is the Japanese Daihatsu Move . Are used in-house 48-volt electric motors of the brand AC motors ( alternating current ), whose power at 4.2  kW is using a 150- Ah - Batteries . The accumulator can be charged within six hours with the help of the built-in 110-volt-20-ampere amplifier. The maximum range is 64 kilometers. In China the ZX40 was sold as Xinfu Happy Messenger .

Miles ZX40 ST Work Truck

The Miles ZX 40 ST Work Truck is a truck with a bed and made its debut at FedFleet '07 in Orlando . It was the brand's second model to hit the market and had batteries that gave the ZX 40 ST a maximum range of 50 to 60 miles under full load. There is also an optional air conditioning system.

Miles ZX40 S and Xinfu Happy Messenger

The second generation of the ZX40 was established in 1998 as the Miles ZX40 S and now has a 72 volt electric motor. With this, the maximum range was increased to 50 to 60 miles . The more powerfully motorized ZX40 S Advanced Design has a range of just 40 to 50 miles. While the top speed of the model has to be electronically limited to 25 mph in most US states, the ZX40 S classified as a Medium Speed ​​Electric Vehicle in Washington State may even reach a top speed of 35 mph. In some countries, the ZX40 S is sold with different headlights, seat belts and airbags due to the legal provisions applicable there. In the People's Republic of China, however, there is no such security equipment for the Xinfu Happy Messenger offered there .

Miles OR70 and Xinfu Shinzhe and FAW Jiaxing

The Miles OR70 is based on the ZX40 S and is not officially marketed in the United States as the model has no speed limit. The model is therefore not DOT approved and may not be driven on public roads in the United States. The only authority exempted from this statutory regulation is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration , which has been using the OR70 at its universities since 2008. In the Chinese home market, where the OR70 is produced, the model is sold as Xinfu Shinzhe . In the export version for other markets, however, the model bears the name FAW Jiangxing .

Miles XS500

The Miles XS500 was to be the brand's first midsize sedan and hit the market in 2010. The basis for the XS500 is the Hafei Saibao III from the Chinese manufacturer Harbin Hafei Automobile , which in turn is derived from a Mitsubishi Lancer from the 1990s. Based on the previously unreleased XS500, Coda Automotive Inc. developed the Coda Sedan , which has been available since mid-March 2012. The manufacturer is Coda Automotive, which is also owned by Miles Rubin. On May 1, 2013, Coda Automotive filed for bankruptcy after only around 100 vehicles were sold.
