Military Medal of Valor (Romania)

The military bravery medal was donated in two classes by Prince Carol I of Romania on November 25th, 1880 and could be awarded to officers , NCOs and men for extraordinary bravery . With the introduction of the military order of Michael the Brave on December 21, 1916, the medal of bravery was awarded as the highest honor for non-commissioned officers and men.

Order decoration

Religious character is a made of bronze -made gilded (first class) or silverplated (II. Class) cross under whose cross arms a dense Eichenkranz runs. In the medallion the portrait of the donor, turned to the right, with the inscription CAROL I. DOMN AL ROMANIEI (Carol I Prince of Romania). On the reverse the two-line inscription VIRTUTE MILITARĀ (Military Merit).

Carrying method

The award was worn on a red ribbon with light blue stripes on the left side of the chest.

Since December 25, 1916, the award of the military medal for bravery was linked to a monthly honorary salary .
