Military Merit Medal (Bamberg)

The military merit medal was donated in 1797 by Prince-Bishop of Bamberg , Christoph Franz von Buseck and could be awarded in gold for officers and silver for non-commissioned officers and men of the Bamberg imperial contingent in the war against France for bravery in front of the enemy.

The round medal shows the coat of arms of the prince-bishopric, surmounted by a princely hat . Five flags protrude from the left and right under the coat of arms. On the reverse the four-line inscription LOHN DER TAPFER KEIT, enclosed by a laurel wreath .

The award was worn on the ribbon on the left side of the chest.
