Military Committee of the European Union
The European Union Military Committee (Engl. European Union Military Committee , EUMC ) is an advisory body of the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy and the Political and Security Committee (PSC).
structure
The EUMC consists of the Chiefs of Staff of the EU member states, represented by their military representatives, who mostly represent their country in personal union at the EU and NATO . The Military Committee was set up by Decision 2001/79 / CFSP of the Council of the European Union of January 22, 2001.
The EUMC is responsible for the implementation of the common security and defense policy and carries out the military direction of operations. The operational implementation is carried out by the military staff of the European Union (EUMS), which coordinates with the military committee.
Chairman of the EUMC
The Chairman of the Military Committee (CEUMC) is appointed by the Council of the European Union on the recommendation of the Committee meeting at the level of the Chiefs of Defense (CHOD) for a regular term of three years. The Chairman of the Military Committee takes part in meetings of the Political and Security Committee, the NATO Military Committee and the Council of the European Union - in the latter case, when a military issue is on the agenda.
