The 21st Baza Lotnictwa Taktycznego (in German: 21st Tactical Air Base) is a military airfield of the Polish Air Force ( Siły Powietrzne Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej ). The base is in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Świdwiński powiat (Schivelbein district) about five kilometers northeast of the center of Świdwin / Schivelbein .

history

In German times, the Nemmin auxiliary airfield was built between Simmatzig (today Smardzko ) and Nemmin (today Niemierzyno ) on the Berlin - Königsberg night flight route.

After 1945, at the beginning of the Cold War in the early 1950s, it was expanded into a large military airfield. The first and long-term user between 1951 and 1971 was the 40th combat aircraft regiment, 40 Pułk Lotnictwa Myśliwsko-Bombowego , which was equipped with MiG-15 and later MiG-17 and MiG-21 . The name of the association was slightly changed twice in 1971 and 1982. At the beginning of the 21st century the regiment became the 40th tactical squadron, the 40th Eskadra Lotnictwa Taktycznego equipped with the Su-22M4 . In 2007, the 8th Squadron, which had previously been stationed on the 12th base in Mirosławiec , moved a second Su-22 formation to Świdwin.
