The Baza Aeriană Boboc is a military airfield of the Romanian Air Force , two km northwest of Boboc (Buzău) . The base is in the Buzău district , about 15 km northeast of the district town of Buzău .
history
Before the Second World War, there was an airfield at or near today's airfield, which at the time was called Aerodromul Ziliştea-Boboc ( Ziliştea is now Zilişteanca ). Ziliştea was a pre-war training airfield of the Royal Romanian Air Force.
The German Air Force used the airfield from 1940/41 and began to expand it. This also includes a paved 1700 m long concrete runway, hangars and workshops as well as accommodation for up to 3000 men. The square became one of the most important air force bases in Romania.
The following table shows a list of all active flying units (excluding school and supplementary units) of the Luftwaffe that were stationed here between 1941 and 1944.
