The 33rd Baza Lotnictwa Transportowego (33rd Transport Air Base ) is a military airfield of the Polish Air Force ( Siły Powietrzne Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej ). The base is in the Greater Poland Voivodeship in the Powiat Słupecki (Slupca district) about six kilometers southwest of the center of Powidz / Kurheim . The Polish military airfield with the longest runway is the main base of the 3rd Air Transport Squadron.
history
Until the end of the 20th century, the airfield was the base of the 7th Bomber and Reconnaissance Regiment. This was reorganized into the 21st Air Base in 2000 and renumbered the 33rd Air Base a year later.
The helicopters of the 15th Special Operations Squadron came to Powidz from Bydgoszcz / Bromberg in 2010 . It was renamed the 7th Special Operations Squadron in the following year.
Todays use
The base currently houses (2019):
- 3rd Air Transport Squadron ( 3rd Skrzydło Lotnictwa Transportowego ), consisting of the flying group with the 14th Eskadra Lotnicza (14 el), an air transport squadron with C-130E (since) and PZL M-28TD , and the 7th Eskadra Działań Specjalnych (7 eds), a special squadron with Mi-24D and Mi-17-1W helicopters. Then there are the technical and support groups.
In addition, rotations of transport planes of the United States Air Force (USAF) operate temporarily from Powidz, most of which are also equipped with the "Hercules".
Civil sharing
A limited civil sharing takes place in the form of jet charter.

In 2019 it was announced that a large United States Army (US Army) material depot was to be built on the edge of the airfield .
