The Mille Lacs County Courthouse is the judicial and administrative building ( courthouse ) of Mille Lacs County in the state of Minnesota in the United States. It is located at number 635 on 2nd Street Southeast in Milaca Town .

The new Mille Lacs County Courthouse was built in 1923 on the occasion of the relocation of the county seat of Mille Lacs County from Princeton to the smaller but more central town of Milaca. The neo-renaissance building cost $ 150,000. The building was constructed by JA McDonald Construction Co. (both from Minneapolis ) based on a design by Croft & Boerner . For the facade, the concrete was clad with smooth ashlar stone ( Bedford limestone ). The otherwise strictly rectangular building is loosened up by a two-story entrance porch with wreath decoration.

The interior features black- framed terrazzo floors and an octagonal atrium with lead glazing above. The glazed entrance door is decorated with forge work with inlaid initials "ML". This monogram is repeated in the iron handrails on the marble stairs that extend from the entrance door to the first and in the opposite direction to the second floor. Woodwork is also part of the interior.

It looks today after a 1978 renovation by Johnson and Forberg Associates of Minneapolis.

The structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977; it is listed there under the number 77000756.
