The Millet Partisi (in German  Nations Party , abbreviation MİLLET ) was a conservative and nationalist political party in Turkey .

The Millet Partisi was founded on July 19, 1948 by Fevzi Çakmak as a split from the right wing of the Democratic Party (DP), Osman Bölükbaşı was one of the founding members , and the historian Yusuf Hikmet Bayur was chairman . Other right-wing extremist to national-conservative politicians helped to found the MP, which "later became the springboard for Alparslan Turkeş , who had been the leader of the ultra-nationalists for decades". In the parliamentary elections in 1950 , only Osman Bölükbaşı was able to win a mandate and entered the Turkish National Assembly for his home province of Kırşehir for the first time . The MP was active until 1954; In that year it was banned by the then DP government under Adnan Menderes because of anti-secular "activities" .

The MP members founded the successor party Republican Nations Party (CMP). In order to form a stronger opposition party, the CMP merged with the Peasant Party of Turkey ( Türkiye Köylü Partisi , TKP) to form the Republican Peasant People's Party ( Cumhuriyetçi Köylü Millet Partisi CKMP). Osman Bölükbaşı left the CKMP with 28 MPs in 1962 because of internal disputes and in June 1962 again founded a Millet Partisi . His former CKMP party changed its name to the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in February 1969 .
