The Milmesberg is 461.2  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in Marksuhl ( Gerstungen municipality ) in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

The Milmesberg is located in the southern foreland of the Thuringian Forest near Marksuhl. Eckardtshausen is located on its northern slope . The Milmesberg is an important landmark and offers a panoramic view of the western Thuringian Forest, the Rhön and the Frauenseer Forest.

The mountain was cleared and used for agriculture in the Middle Ages, and even today the arable land and meadows extend up to the summit. During the GDR era, the mountain had a certain strategic importance as an observation point for the GSSD . On its summit and on its southern slope there are still remains of the military buildings.

The exposed mountain is the subject of legal disputes, these concern the construction of wind turbines in the vicinity of the Wartburg. This could endanger the status of the Wartburg as a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
