Miloš Klátik

Miloš Klátik (born September 3, 1963 in Komárno ) is a Slovak Lutheran theologian. 2006–2018 he served as Bishop General of the Evangelical Church AB in Slovakia .

Life

Klátik, a son of the pastor and later senior Ján Klátik, studied Protestant theology in Bratislava from 1981 to 1986 after graduating from high school in Revúca . He then completed his vicariate in Ružomberok as well as studies abroad in Erlangen, Berlin, Tübingen, Heidelberg, Birmingham and London. In 1989 he became pastor in the new Bratislava- Petržalka building area , where he built a new church and a community center and initiated the establishment of a kindergarten and a Protestant elementary school. In addition, he worked as a lecturer in systematic theology at the Protestant theological faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava . In 2003 he was here because of a dissertation on the priesthood of all believers to Dr. theol. PhD. In 2011, with a study on the contribution of Lutheranism to Slovak cultural history, he also obtained a doctorate in philosophy from the Philosophers-Constantine University in Nitra . In 2014 he completed his habilitation at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Bratislava.

In 2006 Klátik, who had previously held a number of offices at the church-wide level, was elected Bishop General of the Evangelical Church AB in Slovakia and was re-elected in this office in 2012. He has also been chairman of the World Council of Churches in the Slovak Republic since 2009. In the Lutheran World Federation , he is since 2010 member of the Executive Council since 2011 and Chairman of the Committee for Theology and Ecumenical Relations.

In 2013 he received the Medal of Saint Gorazd of the Slovak Republic .

On October 28, 2018, his successor Ivan Eľko was elected. Objections by individual municipalities against this election were rejected by the courts in December 2018.
