Mílton Alves da Silva , short name Salvador (born October 16, 1931 in Porto Alegre , † 1973 in São Paulo ) was a Brazilian football player .
He got his nickname as a teenager, when he saved his school team from defeat in various games (Salvador = de .: savior / redeemer ). He began his professional career in 1950 with SE Palmeiras in São Paulo and immediately won the prestigious São Paulo state championship with the club . However, it is unclear how long he was used. A little later he moved to his hometown for Gremio Esportivo Forca e Luz , for which he only played briefly before he was signed by local rivals SC Internacional . There, Salvador experienced several successful years and was part of the popular trio "Rolinho" under coach Tete , which also included Nílton Coelho da Costa (Bodinho) and Larry Pinto de Faria . The team won the state championship in Rio Grande do Sul four times . In 1955, the SC Internacional entered a friendly against the Uruguayan top club Club Atlético Peñarol . On this occasion, Salvador attracted the attention of the opposing club management with his playful skills and finally he moved to the Aurinegros in Montevideo as the successor to the just resigned Obdulio Jacinto Varela . With these he was able to celebrate three championship titles and winning the first edition of the Copa Libertadores - at that time still called Copa Campeones de América. He was used in both finals against the Paraguayan club Olimpia . In 1961 and 1962, Salvador ended his sporting career in Argentina.
For the national soccer team of Brazil , Mílton Alves da Silva ran only once: On May 9, 1954, he was substituted on for Brandãozinho in a game against an unofficial selection from Colombia .
