Mindsnare is an Australian crossover band from Melbourne , which was founded in 1993 under the name Mad Circle .
history
The band was founded in 1993 under the name Mad Circle. In 1995 the EP Under Fire was released via Deported Records , before the two EPs Credulity and White and the compilation Under Fire 1993-1996 were released via Trial and Error Records in 1997 . After the 2001 debut album Hanged Choked Wrists Slit via Blue Murder Records , the second album The Death followed in 2004 via Trial and Error Records . In the same year, the compilation 1997-1999: The Bootleg was released . Through the album, the band was able to increase their awareness. In 2004 and 2006 the band took part in the Metal for the Brain . In 2006 the EP Gasman was released on Short Fuse Records , followed by the album Disturb the Hive in 2007 on Resist Records . In late May 2009, drummer Gordy Forman left the line-up. Then the band was initially inactive until mid-2011, after which it went on tour with Ringworm through Australia, with the band also taking part in the Bastard Festival in Melbourne . In 2013 the group played a few concerts to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
style
According to Brian Giffin in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal , the band is one of the leading Australian hardcore punk bands. The music sounds like a mixture of Slayer and Minor Threat . This crossover is closer to Thrash Metal than to other groups like Parkway Drive or other Metalcore bands. Justin Donnelly of themetalforge.com found in his review of the album Disturb the Hive that metallic hardcore punk can be heard on it, with the group turning more towards metal and becoming more aggressive with each album. The group uses Thrash Metal riffs , among other things , while the vocals sound biting. The fastest song on the album, Burning Black , or the songs Disturbing the Hive , Hammer , Crashing Down and Scars , were also heavily influenced by Thrash Metal. Occasionally, you also use groovy passages. The split-release with Ringworm continues where Disturb the Hive left off, according to restassuredzine.com . Then the music of Mindsnare was strongly influenced by Thrash Metal, whereby the groove-oriented guitar playing is also characteristic.
