Mind Snare is an Italian brutal death metal band from Turin , founded in 1989.

history

The band was formed on July 14, 1989 by 15 year and ten month old guitarist Chris Benso. In 1990 the first demo Satan 'Slaughter was released , which was followed by further demos with Chemioteraphy (1991), The Dream-Quest into the Unknown (1992), Blind (1994) and Icon (1995). In 1995 the band performed with Vader , Malevolent Creation and Oppressor . In 1996 the first live demo followed with Day of the Dead, which was followed by the next studio demo in 1997 under the name … Awaiting the Ancients . In August 1998 the EP Hegemony was recorded before it was self-released in May 1999. In September of that year, the band signed a recording contract with the Malaysian label Psychic Scream Entertainment , which in January 2000 Hegemony was re-released with two live songs as a bonus. In July and August of that year, the debut album Hateful Attitude was recorded, which was released in January 2001. In August of that year, the EP Broken Promises was released on the Italian label Terror from Hell Records . After the group had signed a contract with the US label Forever Underground Records in January 2002 , the recordings for the album The Noble Ancestry began in August 2002 . It was released across Europe by Forever Underground Records in February 2003 , before the label offered it worldwide in August. In 2004 the EP Visions was released on the Italian label Rapture Asylum Records , whereupon in August of that year the recordings for the album From Blood to Dust began, which was released in February 2005 on Forever Underground Records. In June 2005 the band played with Cephalic Carnage in Rome before appearing on the Obscene Extreme the following July . Further appearances followed in October with Vader and Rotting Christ in Codevilla , then in December with Dismember in Turin. In March 2006, a music video for Blood and Dust was released. In May of that year, the recordings for the album Black Crystal Sun began in the One Voice Studio in Chivasso , after which it was released in July on the German label Cxxt Bxxcher Records . In May 2006 the band could also be seen in the Czech Republic at the Studenka Festival . In May 2007 the group played with Suffocation in Turin, before their first performance in 16 months with Davide Tonin as the new drummer was held on February 21, 2009. On July 19th of that year a concert with Marduk and Dew-Scented was given to mark the 20th anniversary of the band . For the same reason, the release of the album Undergroundemons was planned for 2009 , since Cxxt Bxxcher Records was closed, this did not happen. In January 2011 Tonin and the bassist and singer Gigi Casini left the line-up, replacing the bassist Fabio, the singer Derek and the drummer Sergio Pavinato. The latter is already on From Blood to Dust and Black Crystal Sun been heard. The first appearance with the new line-up was then performed together with Necrodeath . The group also began work on new songs, which were released as a demo in 2013. In 2014 , the album Ancient Cults Supremacy was released via Thew Spew Records , a sub-label of Punishment 18 Records .

style

Metalcrypt.com's Sargon the Terrible wrote in his review of The Noble Ancestry that the band played brutal death metal; it allows strong sonic parallels to Vader and Deicide to shine through. The songs are designed quite dynamically, the production is only average, so that the drums sound powerless. The singing is the weak point of the album, Sargon the Terrible compared the singer with the cookie monster . Andreas Stappert from Rock Hard described Black Crystal Sun as straightforward and "rough" Brutal Death Metal. The music is technically quite demanding, with an American influence above all being recognizable. Overall, however, the quality of the genre cannot be matched. Neil Arnold of metalforcesmagazine.com contains Ancient Cults Supremacy straight old-school - Death Metal with occasional Grindcore -Einflüssen. The vocals are deep and guttural , while the bass rumble, the electric guitars sound heavy and wild and the drums “bolt”. The group mixes fast passages with slower, darker melodies and process influences from groups like Suffocation, Deicide and Gorefest . Thematically one deals with death, hatred and aggression. Overall, the band produces quite brutal music and is sometimes a bit technically demanding.
