The Ming-P- class is a series of eight container motor ships of the Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation (Yang Ming Line).

history

With the ships of the Ming P class, the Yang Ming Line continued the conversion of its liner services to full container ships , which began in 1980 with the construction of the Ming Sun class , and expanded with them its route network in Europe-Asia traffic. Six of the ships were sold en bloc to Contship Containerlines in 2001 when Yang Ming took over new post-Panamax ships in 2000/2001. Two further units remained in the service of the original client, except for temporary charter until they were scrapped in 2009.

description

The superstructure of the ship was arranged about three quarters of the length aft . All but one cargo hold were arranged in front of the deckhouse, equipped with cell guides and closed by pontoon hatch covers. The container capacity was 3266  TEU , and 119 conventional refrigerated containers could be supplied.

The ships each received a single-acting, slow-running Sulzer main engine of the type 9RND90M with an output of 21,351 kW, which was built under license by Ishikawajima Harima in the Japanese city of Aioi . The nine-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine acted directly on a fixed propeller and helped the ships to achieve a nominal speed of 21.5  knots . Two diesel generators with 900 kW each and two diesel generators with 560 kW each were installed to supply energy.
