The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Russian Federation is the Russian Ministry of the Environment and one of the 16 ministries of the Russian federal government .
history
The Ministry emerged from the Ministry of Mining and Geology created by Peter the Great in 1700. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Ministries of Environment and Resources were established in 1996, which in 2008 were merged to form the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
Organization and responsibility
The ministry deals with the planning and implementation of Russian environmental policy. His area of responsibility also includes the oil, gas and energy industries, which are particularly important for Russia.
