The Le Protector , which is identical to the "Minneapolis Palm Pistol", is a seven-shot revolver of caliber .32 . It was first patented and built in France in 1882 by Systeme E. Turbiaux in Paris, but later from 1883 also in the USA as "The Protector", also "Protector Palm Pistol" or "Minneapolis Palm Pistol" by the Chicago Firearms Co. and later sold by the Ames Sword Company until about 1910. This small revolver stands out in particular because of its snuff-box- like shape and the fact that the trigger is not released with the index finger, but with the palm of the hand . The “Protector” is extremely rare and a sought-after item among collectors.

At the beginning of April 2009, one of these extremely rare firearms was discovered and confiscated by German customs officers while they were checking a Czech car.

A weapon related by construction is the turret revolver .
