Minnie Walton (* 1852 in Sydney , † 1879 in San Francisco ) was an Australian-American singer and actress.

Live and act

Walton began her career as a singer and appeared in William Saurin Lysters opera troupe in 1867 alongside singers such as Henry Squires and Lucy Escott . In 1868 she married William's brother Frederick Lyster , who was in the management of the group's English-speaking company. In the same year she traveled with the company to the USA and made her debut as an actress at Maguire's Opera House in San Francisco as Elly O'Connor in Dion Boucicault's The Colleen Bawn .

From 1869 to 1873 she was a member of the California Theater ensemble , in between she appeared in 1870 at New York's Wood's Museum with Lydia Thompson's troupe in Paris, Or the Apple of Discord . In 1873 she appeared at Augustin Daly's Fifth Avenue Theater , worked with JK Emmet and played Rose in A Flash of Lightning at the Grand Opera House .

This was followed by a tour of the USA and a stay in England with Edward Askew Sothern , where she played Mary Meredith in Our American Cousin at the Haymarket Theater in London in 1874 . Then she traveled to Australia with Lytton Sothern . From there she returned to San Francisco, where she died in 1879 at the age of 27.
