Life

Bellei began after graduating from the Accademia d'Arte Drammatica in 1959 as a stage actor in plays by Pirandello , Molière and Shakespeare ; Critics counted him among the most promising and outstanding talents of those years. In the mid-1960s he also turned to theater direction; he also appeared as a playwright (1961 with L'altra faccia della luna , 1969 with Tutto per amore ). His play La vita non è un film di Doris Day , in which he also took on the leading role, was a great success . Since 1968 Bellei played in a theater cooperative, which also included Renzo Risso , Romolo Valli and Giorgio De Lullo . He then founded his own ensemble (with the remarkable performance of the monologue Letters by Lewis Carroll , directed by Marco Sciaccaluga ) and played for a few years with Aroldo Tieri and Giuliana Lojodice . In the 1990s, his play La vita non è un film di Doris Day attracted attention.

Only occasionally did he take on roles in film and television; In 1979 he directed Bionda fragola for the screen based on his own script . Despite good reviews and financial success, it was his only film.
