Minuscule 3 (numbered after Gregory-Aland ), ε 253 ( Soden ) is a Greek minuscule manuscript of the New Testament on 451 sheets of parchment (24.5 × 17.5 cm). The manuscript was dated to the 12th century using paleography . The text is written in one column with 24 lines per page.

The Code contains the entire New Testament, excluding the Book of Revelation, in the following order: Gospels , Acts , Catholic Epistles, and the Epistles of Paul . It also contains the Epistula ad Carpianum , lists of the κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, the Eusebian Canon , the Apparatus of Euthalius and some images. It also contains signatures from a later hand.

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Byzantine text type . Aland places it in category V a. It was compiled by Wettstein .

history

Radulph or Roland de Rivo presented the manuscript to the Dominican monastery in Basel. It was used by Erasmus in his second edition of the Novum Testamentum of 1519. The code is now in the Austrian National Library (Cod. Suppl. Gr. 52) in Vienna .
