The Ussher Gospels (English Ussher Gospels , minuscule 64 after Gregory-Aland , ε 1287 after von Soden ) is a gospel manuscript in Greek , which is palaeographically dated to the 12th century. The handwriting is complete.

description

The manuscript consists of two volumes with 209 and 234 sheets of parchment . At 11.5 × 8 cm in size, it is unusually small, which indicates a likely private use.

The text was written in one column with 18 lines each in regular Greek minuscules with some uncial forms. The initials at the beginning of each chapter are decorated with gold and other colors.

In addition to the four Gospels, the Gospels contain the Epistula ad Carpianum , 14 illuminated Eusebian canon tables, lists of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, the Ammonian passages (Mark 241), liturgical reading pieces, incipits and a synaxarium .

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Byzantine text type . Aland didn't put it in any category .

history

The manuscript belonged to Thomas Goade († 1638) and later James Ussher (like Codex 61 and 63 ). After a series of changes of ownership, the manuscript was last sold in 2011 by the Schøyen Collection (there Ms 230) in Oslo to the Green Collection (MS 474).
