Minuscule 78 (numbered after Gregory-Aland ), ε 1209 ( from Soden ) is a Greek minuscule manuscript from the New Testament on 296 sheets of parchment (20.8 × 15 cm). The manuscript was dated to the 12th century using paleography . The handwriting is complete.

The manuscript contains the text of the four Gospels . It was written in one column with 22 lines each. The manuscript contains Eusebian tables, lists of κεφαλαια, κεφαλαια, τιτλοι, lectionary markings, synaxarion and pictures.

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Byzantine text type . Kurt Aland placed it in Category V a. It belonged to the text family K x .

history

Like Codex 77, the manuscript belonged to the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus (1458–1490). Around 1686 the manuscript came into the hands of Samuel Benedict Carpzov (1647–1707) in Dresden, then into that of his son Johann Gottlob Carpzov (1679–1767), then into the possession of Johann Benedikt Carpzov IV , professor in Helmstedt († 1803).

The manuscript was collated by Christian Frederick Boerner (1685–1753) .

The Codex is currently in the Széchényi National Library (Cod. Graec. 1) in Budapest .
