Akosua Serwaa

Akosua Serwaa (also: Akosua Serwah ; born January 3, 1981 in Kumasi ) is a former Ghanaian athlete. She won the silver medal in the 800-meter run at the 2003 Pan-African Games .

Akosua Serwaa started for the TuS Köln rrh for several years . , In 2002 she improved her 800 meter best time in Cologne to 2: 01.30 minutes. At the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis, she finished third behind Tina Paulino from Mozambique and Anita Brägger from Switzerland in 2: 01.17 minutes and qualified as the last runner for the semi-finals. From the three semi-finals, the first two and two fastest fastest runners made it to the final. The second semi-final was won by Maria de Lurdes Mutola ahead of Kelly Holmes and the Canadian Diane Cummins , in 2: 00.42 minutes, Serwaa managed to get into the next round as the last runner over the time rule, as in the run-up. Mutola won the final ahead of Holmes, Serwaa took seventh place in 2: 03.24 minutes. A month and a half later, the Pan-African Games took place in Abuja. In the absence of the two runners from Mozambique, the Nigerian Grace Ebor won in 2: 02.04 minutes, Serwaa took second place in 2: 02.40 minutes. In 2004 Serwaa started at the Olympic Games in Athens, but dropped out as the fifth of their prelims in the first round.

Akosua Serwaa was 1.60 meters tall and had a competition weight of 60 kilograms. She ran her best time of 53.55 seconds over 400 meters in 2003 in Avezzano. Her 800 meter best time of 1:59, minutes over 800 meters, run on July 2, 2004 in Rome, is the current Ghanaian national record (as of May 2013).
