Diane Cummins (born January 19, 1974 in Pinetown , South Africa ) is a former Canadian middle -distance runner who had specialized in the 800-meter distance and was used because of her sprint strength in the 4-by-400-meter relay .

At the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, she won bronze with the Canadian 4-by-400-meter relay, and at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, she was fifth over 800 meters.

In 2001 she won the Francophonie Games and was fifth at the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton . The following year, she won silver over 800 m at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 and was ninth over 1500 m . In 2003 she was sixth at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis .

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2005 World Cup in Helsinki, she reached the semi-finals. In 2006 she finished fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne . The following year she won the Pan American Games in 2007 in Rio de Janeiro over 800 m and was sixth in the Canadian 4 x 400 meter relay. At the World Cup in Osaka , she was eliminated in the semi-finals.

In 2010 she won bronze at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi .
