Minuscule 81 (numbered after Gregory-Aland ), α 162 ( from Soden ) is a Greek minuscule manuscript of the New Testament on 282 sheets of parchment (18 × 12.6 cm). The manuscript is dated to the year 1044 by its colophon . The handwriting is incomplete.
description
The manuscript contains the text of the Acts of the Apostles , Catholic Epistles and Pauline Epistles with gaps (Acts 4,8-7,17; 17,28-23,9). It was written in one column with 23 lines each. The manuscript contains prolegomena, lists of the κεφαλαια (for James) and lectionary markings.

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Alexandrian text type with some Byzantine readings. Kurt Aland placed him in Category II .
history
According to its colophon, the manuscript was written by the monk Johannes at the request of a monk Jakob.
Tischendorf brought 57 sheets of this manuscript from Egypt to Europe in 1853 and sold them to the British Museum in 1854 . It was examined and published by Tischendorf.
The parts of the code are currently in the British Library (Add. 20003, 57 fol.) In London and in the library of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria (59, 225 fol.).
