Miquel Capllonch i Rotger
Miquel Capllonch i Rotger (born January 14, 1861 in Pollença ; † December 21, 1935 there ) was a Spanish pianist and composer.
Life
He completed a piano course, which he completed in Madrid . At the age of 18 he also gave his first concerts in Madrid. The Chinese ambassador invited him to the Chinese imperial court to take part in the musical education of the imperial family. Miquel Capllonch i Rotger turned down the offer. In 1884 he received a scholarship to continue his education in Berlin . He became a student of Karl Heinrich Barth , Ernst Rudorff and von Hardenbergs. He cultivated friendships with the pianist Clara Wieck and Anton Rubinstein as well as the young Arthur Rubinstein , to whom he also gave private lessons. He gave concerts in front of the German Kaiser Wilhelm II and gave private lessons to Prince Friedrich Leopold of Prussia and Albert of Saxony .
Honors
In Port de Pollença a square was named after him as Placa de Miquel Capllonch and a bronze bust depicting him was erected. There is a memorial plaque in Pollença.
