Mira Alečković

Mira Alečković ( Serbian - Cyrillic Мира Алечковић ; born February 2, 1924 in Novi Sad , Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes ; † February 26, 2008 in Belgrade , Serbia ) was a Yugoslavian writer, poet and songwriter.

From 1939 she belonged to the Communist Youth Organization and from 1941 to the Yugoslav People's Liberation Army . After the end of the war she studied Slavic and literary studies at the University of Belgrade and at the Sorbonne (Paris) . She has published several volumes of poetry, the first of which, Zvezdane balade , appeared in 1946, as well as numerous children's books. She also wrote for several youth magazines. Also known are the songs Druže, Tito mi ti se kunemo and Jugoslavijo , whose texts she wrote and which were interpreted by Zdravko Čolić , among others . In 1980 a three-volume edition of selected works ( Izabrana dela Mire Alečković ) was published.
