The Mirabaud LX is an experimental, open sailboat in carbon fiber construction "without a hull ", which, according to the developers, represents a world first.

principle

In the Mirabaud LX it is a sailboat, from Hydro wings ( Hydrofoils ; wing is lifted out of the water and carried once it has reached a certain speed in water vehicles). The buoyancy of the rudimentary trunk is only required for the transition phase before "take off". If the hydraulic wings are active, the wave resistance of the fuselage does not apply and the frictional resistance is only caused by the surfaces of the flights, which enables a further increase in speed.

A speed of 23 knots (43  km / h ) is aimed for for the Mirabaud LX  . The construction of a sailboat that is light and fast enough to function with hydraulic wings was only possible with modern construction forms and materials.

successes

The Mirabaud LX can already show its first successes. The Bol d'Or on Lake Neuchâtel 2008 was won, at the Bol d'Or on Lake Geneva , the boat was classified in 53rd place overall, among the multihulls - the boat was assigned the fastest category - she was 20th.
