The Mirim dam is a dam with hydroelectric plant on the eastern outskirts of Pyongyang ( North Korea ).

history

The dam was built in 1979 and put into operation on July 2, 1980. It was built mainly to minimize the risk of flooding in the Sadong-guyŏk district , but also to generate energy. Electricity is generated hydroelectrically . The dam connects the districts of Sadong-guyŏk and Taesŏng-guyŏk via the Taedong-gang .

During the Jonsung Cup Games between July 1, 2016 and July 27, 2016, the dam was one of the venues alongside the cities of Sariwŏn and Wŏnsan .
