Sadong-guyŏk is one of the 18 boroughs of Pyongyang , the capital of North Korea . The suburb is located on the southern banks of the Taedong-gang and Nam-gang and east of the districts of Taedonggang-guyŏk , Tongdaewon-guyŏk and Songyo-guyŏk . Sadong was incorporated into Pyongyang as a municipality in 1959.

The district is used in particular for industrial and agricultural purposes.

Buildings and facilities

In Sadong there are two train stations for the transport of raw materials extracted from mines and the Mirim airport for state use. The Taedonggang Brewing Company located here is of economic importance .

In the district of Hyum-dong is the wooden bridge of the Goguryeo era, the national treasure of North Korea number 166.

Natural monuments

The Chinese jujubes in the Tŏkdong-ri district are listed under the natural monuments of North Korea with the sort number 9.

Administrative division

Sadong-guyŏk is divided into 14 administrative units, the dongs . The districts of Songhwa-dong and Tulu-dong are in turn divided into two, the district of Songsin-dong into three administrative units.
