The taedonggang brewing company is a brewery in North Korea . It is located in Dong Songsin-dong, Sadong-guyŏk District, Pyongyang City . The name is derived from the Taedong-gang river .

history

In 2000 North Korea was looking for a partner to build a brewery. The British brewery Ushers of Trowbridge was awarded the contract . The contact was established through the broker Uwe Oehms . The plants were built between 2000 and 2001. For this purpose, Ushers dismantled part of its facilities in Trowbridge and relocated it to Pyongyang. Production began in 2002. The production is carried out and monitored with an automated system from Germany . It has also been exported to South Korea since 2007 .

On July 3, 2009, the company was advertised on television and the state television broadcaster Korean Central Television broadcast the first commercial in its history. It ran three times until August 29, 2009.

Products

Four types of beer are currently brewed; Draft beer , rice beer , black beer and the most famous and popular Taedong course . These are available in bottles of different sizes.

In South Korea there is the craft beer Taedonggang Pale Ale , which does not come from North Korea, but is brewed by the breweries The Booth Brewing and Mikkeller .
