Pot'onggang-guyŏk is one of the 18 boroughs of Pyongyang , the capital of North Korea . The district is best known for the Ryugyŏng Hot'el . It takes its name from the Pothong River , which forms the district boundaries. Pot'onggang-guyŏk borders on Hyŏngjesan-guyŏk to the north, Sŏsŏng-guyŏk and Moranbong-guyŏk to the east, P'yŏngch'ŏn-guyŏk and Chung-guyŏk to the south, and Mangyŏngdae-guyŏk to the west . The district was established in October 1960.
Buildings and facilities
Pot'onggang-guyŏk is primarily a business district and only offers a few sights in the outer area near the inner city district. Including the Pot'ong River Pleasureground , the memorial for the Patriotic Liberation Struggle , as well as the Museum of the Patriotic War of Liberation and the Pot'ong River Improvement Project Monument. The district is also home to the embroidery factory, which is occasionally visited by tourists, and the Pyongyang Senior Middle School . The headquarters of the National Defense Commission of North Korea are located in the district of Ragwon-dong .

The poplars of the Pot'ong-gang in the district of Pot'onggang-dong are listed under the natural monuments of North Korea with the sorting number 6.
Administrative units
Pot'onggang is divided into eleven administrative units, the dongs . The two dongs Ryugyong and Potonggang are in turn divided into two administrative units each and Pulgunkori-dong due to its size into three administrative units.
