Sunan-guyŏk is one of the 18 boroughs of Pyongyang , the capital of North Korea . The district has 40,983 inhabitants (as of 2010). It is located in the north of the city and borders the Ryongsŏng-guyŏk district to the east and Hyŏngjesan-guyŏk to the south .
The area became the municipality of Pyongyang in April 1972 on the 60th birthday of Kim Il-sung by the incorporation of administrative districts of the then Sunan-gun County.
Economy and Transport
The district is home to several agricultural cooperatives, an ostrich farm and various logistics companies. So there are also the airport Sunan , as well as the head office of the airline Air Koryo in Sunan-guyok.
