Moranbong-guyŏk is one of the 18 boroughs of Pyongyang , the capital of North Korea . It is located north of the downtown Chung-guyŏk district and borders the Sŏsŏng-guyŏk and Taesŏng-guyŏk districts to the north, Taedong-gang to the east, and Pot'ong-gang and Pot'onggang-guyŏk districts to the west . It got its name after the Moran Hill in the west of the district. It was declared a municipality in October 1960.

The Pyongyang Metro stops within Moranbong-guyŏk at Tongil , Kaesŏn , Chŏnu , and Chŏnseung.
The district is connected to Rungra Island and Taedonggang-guyŏk by the Rungna Bridge .
Buildings and facilities
Moranbong Park , the largest local recreation area in Pyongyang, extends over a large part of the district . There are several historical relics, such as the Ch'ŏllima statue and the remains of the wall of the old castle and various pavilions.
Also located in the district of the 150-meter high TV tower , the world's largest triumphal arch and during the Japanese colonial era , built Kim Il-sung Stadium , and the space on the Kim Il Sung his first speech in Korea after his return from the Exile held. In 1973 the Pyongyang Metro Museum opened here .
