P'yŏngch'ŏn-guyŏk (Pyongchon District) is one of the 18 boroughs of Pyongyang , the capital of North Korea .

The southern border of the district is formed by the Taedong-gang on which the hijacked US Navy ship USS Pueblo is located. In the north and in the west it is bounded by the Potong gang . To the east of the district, separated by the railway line, is the downtown district of Chung-guyŏk .
The district is connected to the district south of Taedong-gang by the Chungsong Bridge . The Chollima Street is the central thoroughfare of through-P'yŏngch'ŏn guyŏk. Most of the time, earned employees of the Kim Ch'aek Technical University live on Mirae Street .

The district is also home to the Mansudae Art Studio , Pyongyang Jang Chol Gu Commercial University, Pyongyang University of the Printing Industrial Arts, and Korea Okryu Combination Corporation. The Pothong Hotel and the Ansan Chodasso Guest House are specially designed for international visitors. One of the largest factories is the Kim Jong-suk silk spinning mill . The thermal power station operated in P'yŏngch'ŏn-guyŏk is the capital's main energy supplier.

history

P'yŏngch'ŏn-guyŏk became an independent district in October 1960 through a mandate from the Central Committee of the Labor Party of Korea .

On May 13, 2014, a residential building collapsed, leaving several dead.

Puhŭng Subway Station

The Chollima Street is a main thoroughfare of P'yŏngch'ŏn-guyŏk in the inner city area of Chung-guyok . The Pyongyang metro stops in P'yŏngch'ŏn-guyŏk at Puhŭng (復興 = resurrection) station. This is a frequent starting point for underground rides for foreign visitors.

Administrative units

P'yŏngch'ŏn-guyŏk is divided into eleven administrative units, the dongs . The largest districts, Ansan, Puksong, Haeun, Ryukkyo, Pyongchon and Saemaul, are in turn divided into two administrative units each.
