Mirko Borscht (born February 20, 1971 in Cottbus ) is a German director and screenwriter.

Life

Borscht grew up in Cottbus, where he attended the polytechnic high school. Then he began an apprenticeship as a men's tailor, which he broke off prematurely; instead he moved to Berlin at the age of 17. He initially worked as a director and camera assistant on various film productions. After two co-directing work at the theater, he directed his first film work with the short film Mäuseboxen in 1992 , followed by the second short film Bastard! .

His work as a director in film and theater was largely determined by working with young amateur actors. This is how his first full-length feature film, Kombat Sechzehn , was made in 2005 , followed in 2007 by the play sacrificial pop , which he developed for the Thalia Theater Halle with so-called “problem kids”. In 2008, Opferpopp received the Hans Götzelmann Prize for Culture of Disputes from the Institute for Peace Education in Tübingen and in 2009 the project received the BKM Prize for Cultural Education from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media Bernd Neumann at the Genshagen Foundation.

At the Centraltheater Leipzig, the plays Sweet Dreams and Der Tag des Opritschniks (based on a novel by Wladimir Sorokin ) were shown in his direction . In 2010 he edited the play komA by Georg Staudacher and Volker Schmidt for the Junge Schauspiel Hannover and staged it in the Tellkampfschule Hannover with 19 young people, two teachers and two professional actors.

After Unfun , the third part of the Scandinavian Misanthropy by Matias Faldbakken , Borscht staged Germany not dancing as a premiere at the opening of the 2010/2011 season at the Centraltheater / Skala Leipzig .

In autumn 2010, Kristus - Monster of Münster followed (content based on the Anabaptist empire of Münster ) for the Junge Schauspiel Hannover.
