Mirko from Montenegro
Prince Mirko Dimitri of Montenegro (born April 17, 1879 in Cetinje , Montenegro , † March 2, 1918 in Vienna , Austria ) was a member of the House of Petrović-Njegoš .
Life
Mirko was the second and youngest son of King Nikola I of Montenegro (1841-1921) and his wife Milena Vukotić (1847-1923). He grew up with his siblings in Cetinje.
On July 25, 1902, Prince Mirko Dimitri of Montenegro married Princess Natalija Konstantinovic (1882–1950), granddaughter of Anna Obrenović (1821–1868), daughter of the Serbian King Miloš Obrenović (1783–1860) in Cetinje . The marriage ended in divorce in 1917. The marriage resulted in five sons: Stephan (1903–1908), Stanislaw (1905–1907), Michael (1908–1986), Pavle (1910–1933) and Emmanuel (1912–1928).
After the violent death († 1903) of King Aleksandar of Serbia and his wife Draga, Prince Mirko of Montenegro was publicly proclaimed Crown Prince by the Serbian government. He remained in Montenegro in 1916 as the only member of the dynasty, which was interpreted by some as an attempt at a separate peace solution with Austria-Hungary (with or without his father's knowledge).
