Miroslav Vratil

Miroslav Vratil (born April 12, 1920 in Kosorín , today's Slovakia ) was a Czechoslovak football player .

Career

Vratil began his career during World War II when the Slovakian midfielder was added to the squad of first division club FK Viktoria Žižkov in 1943 ; with that he had made the leap into professional football . He ran for the Prague district club beyond the end of the war and was able to record some successes as a scorer with nine or eight goals in the seasons 1945/46 and 1946/47. In 1947 he left his homeland, which was about to be taken over by the Soviet Union , and went to France .

In France, the player was also able to compete in the first division, as he was signed by the southern French club Olympique Marseille . Like the Czechoslovakian league, the French league was already a professional league at that time and Vratil made his first appearance there on August 24, 1947 in a 3-2 win against FC Toulouse . Until the turn of the year 1947/48 remained at a time when substitutions and substitutions were not yet possible, regular players, but played hardly a role after that. On February 22, 1948, he played his last of 14 first division games in France, where he was able to score two goals; despite his absence in the season finale, he was one of the French championship team in 1947/48. Following this success, he ended his professional career.
