Misericordia ( lat : mercy) is a fashion label based in Lima . It is considered the first Peruvian fashion label on the international market. In addition to the production and distribution of fair fashion , the label is committed to social projects.

Emergence

The brand was founded in 2002 by two French people. The name Misericordia is derived from the school of Nuestra Senora de la Misericordia . When they visited that school, the two were fascinated by the school uniforms there and the people's will to survive. Although they didn't know anything about fashion , they founded the fashion label with the intention of treating employees fairly and supporting social projects with part of the profits .

The brand follows people's increased need for fashion that is produced under fair working conditions. The brand's products are sold in Europe , America , China and Canada . The company's turnover in 2007 was around 500,000 euros. There are currently around 30 employees working on site for the label. The salary of the employees is well above the usual salaries in the country, in addition, the workers are insured for health and pension. Misericordia cooperates with designers like Stephan Schneider, who, although hardly known in Germany, is already one of the star designers in Japan . In 2009 the first shop was opened in the capital Lima .
