Mishael Cheshin ( Hebrew מישאל חשין; * 1936 in Beirut ; † September 19, 2015 in Herzliya ) was an Israeli lawyer and judge at the Israeli Supreme Court .

Life

Cheshin was born in Beirut in 1936. He grew up in Tel Aviv . When he was 14 years old, the family moved to Jerusalem . At the age of 17, he began studying law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem . He received his doctorate there at the age of 26 . Cheshin served in the attorney general's office where he eventually became assistant attorney general under Meir Shamgar . In 1978 he resigned and instead started working as a lawyer. In 1992 he was appointed judge at the Israeli Supreme Court. His father, Shneur Zalman Cheshin, was a Supreme Court judge. He later became vice president of the Supreme Court. In 2006 he retired.

Cheshin was married and had four children. He died in September 2015 at the age of 79 from complications from cancer . His burial took place on September 20 in the cemetery of Kibbutz Givat Hashlosha .
