Mistake Peak (from English mistake , mistake, oversight, mistake ' ) is a 2600 m high and snow-capped mountain peak in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises about 3 miles west-southwest of Shapeless Mountain at the southern end of the Willett Range .
The New Zealand Northern Group of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) named it so in 1957 because they climbed the mountain in the mistaken belief that it was Shapeless Mountain.
