history

The Spiegelshof is an aristocratic court, the history of which can be traced back to the year 1334. From then until 1479 at the latest, it belonged to the von Todrang family. It then became the property of those from Spiegel . In 1540, Johann Spiegel von Peckelsheim had it rebuilt in the Weser Renaissance style.

The Wessel family took over the farm in 1820 and set up a post office there in 1840 and a theater in 1847.

In 1927 the city of Bielefeld took over the building. The registry office located there left the courtyard in 1985 to create rooms for the Bielefeld Natural History Museum .
