The von Mistelbach family was an old Frankish noble family .
history
The von Mistelbach family is known from 1321 to 1563 as a local noble family with extensive possessions around Mistelbach . It died out in the male line in 1563, the tombstone of the last knight of Mistelbach is in the church in Mistelbach. It shows the knight in his armor kneeling in front of a cross and raising his hands in prayer.
The von Mistelbach family belonged to the imperial knighthood and were related , among other things, to the von Sparneck family.
Whether there is a connection with Bamberg's Bishop Otto von Bamberg (* 1060 or 1061; † June 30, 1139), also known as "Otto von Mistelbach", has yet to be clarified (see also Bamberg Monastery and Burg Gaillreuth ).
coat of arms
The coat of arms is a golden, deeply indented bar on a red background. Mistelbach's municipal coat of arms reminds of the noble family.
