The Misthound Cirque (English for Nebelhundkessel ) is a mountain cauldron in the Darwin Mountains of the Transantarctic Mountains . It forms a large indentation on the east side of Haskell Ridge .
Participants of a 1962 to 1963 campaign as part of New Zealand's Victoria University's Antarctic Expeditions made the name. It is named after the uncanny desolation, which the visitor conveys in foggy weather, and the specially shaped boulders on the valley floor, which are reminiscent of large dogs .
