With God for King and Fatherland is one of Friedrich Wilhelm III's motto . The badge donated in 1813 , the Landwehr Cross . The metal cross with this slogan was sewn onto the hats of the Prussian Landwehr soldiers . It can also be found on different versions of helmets and crosses of honor. It was later used several times as the watchword of conservative parties in Prussia or called by soldiers in battles shortly before the enemy attacked. The Kreuzzeitung used the motto in a slightly modified form: "Forward with God for King and Fatherland."
