Mitchell Keith "JJ" Anderson (born September 23, 1960 in Chicago ) is a retired American basketball player .

career

Anderson, a 2.03 meter tall winger, was with Bradley University from 1978 to 1982 . In 122 games he averaged 19.2 points and 7.8 rebounds. With 2341 points, he sat at the top of the university team's eternal basket hunter list. Anderson was later named to the College Team of the Century and Bradley's Team of the Decade of the 1980s in recognition of his accomplishments. Since 1999, Bradley's shirt number has not been used to honor Anderson. In 2010, a field in the college's training center was named after Anderson.

In the 1982 NBA draft , the Philadelphia 76ers secured the rights to the winger. He was selected in the second round in a total of 36th place. Anderson played 13 NBA games for Philadelphia, switched to the Utah Jazz during the 1982/83 season and stayed there until 1985. He made a total of 157 appearances in the NBA, with an average of 4.8 points per encounter.

He continued his career in Italy , played for Florence in Serie A from 1985 to 1991 and shone there as a strong player with a high score and a good rebounder. In the game year 1991/92 he was in the service of the Spanish first division club CAI Zaragossa , for whom he scored an average of 15.6 points and six rebounds per encounter in 16 games in the ACB league . In 1992/93 the American strengthened the Greek first division team Aris Thessaloniki and then returned to Italy and again showed his strengths as a reliable point supplier at Goccia di Carnia Udine (1993/94) and Polti Cantu (1994/95) in the attack. In the 1995/96 game year Anderson was temporarily under contract with Taugrés Vitoria , but only played in three league games. He retired from competitive sport, but returned to the field of German second division BCJ Hamburg at the age of 38 in January 1999 to replace his acquaintance Adebayo Akinkunle , who was injured. In this way, Anderson contributed to Hamburg's promotion to the Bundesliga.

Anderson stayed in the basketball business, was an assistant coach on the staff of the NBA team Memphis Grizzlies in the 2011/12 season , then switched to the functionary and was active in the team's sporting management.
