Miteni was an Italian chemical company owned by WeylChem ( ICIG ). Miteni produced fluorine-containing intermediates primarily for the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries .

The company was criticized for contamination of the groundwater around Trissino with perfluorooctane sulfonate .

history

Miteni was founded in 1965 as a research center for the Marzotto textile company . Electrochemical fluorination was used almost from the start . In 1988 EniChem and Mitsubishi took over the company. In 1996 Mitsubishi acquired 100% of the shares. In 2009 the company was sold to ICIG. In 2018, the company filed for bankruptcy .
