Michurinsky
Michurinsky is a red wine variety that originated in the Russian breeding station in Michurinsk . It is the result of many years of crossbreeding . The variety, which ripened at the beginning of September, inherited the frost hardiness (from −25 to −35 ° C) from its Asian ancestors Vitis amurensis , and from its European Vitis vinifera parents (including Muscat Trollinger ) the good fruit quality.
The Russian vine is suitable as espalier fruit on house walls and in gardens for the extraction of table grapes . It has long been of outstanding importance in the GDR region . It carries even in higher altitudes and in climatically unfavorable regions such as German low mountain ranges up to approx. 600 m height. Downy mildew and powdery mildew , raw rot and grape moth ( sourworm ) cause few problems, spraying is not necessary. The taste of the vines is mild, slightly sour and fruity-sweet. It is particularly suitable for grape juice and grape brandy .
The variety was dedicated to the famous botanist Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin .
