The Mittellegihütte is 3355 m above sea level. M. high mountain hut on the narrow north-east or middle gi ridge of the Eiger , which slopes steeply on both sides.
The Mittellegihütte has been serviced since 1995 .
Building history
The Mittellegihütte was built in 1924 with the help of a donation of 10,000 Swiss francs from the first climber Maki Yūkō . The total construction costs amounted to 16,000 Swiss francs.

After it was built, the hut had to be renovated for the first time in 1986. She got new shingles for the roof and the walls. However, the original condition remained unchanged. Since the existing 16 spaces in the hut were often not enough, a bivouac box was built a little further east as a tubular steel construction that offers space for twelve more people and also serves as a winter room.
In 2001 the old Mittellegihütte was replaced by a new building. The new hut has a capacity of 30 beds, a lounge and a room for the hostess.
The old hut was removed in one piece by helicopter. It was first used as a museum object at the Eiger Glacier station of the Jungfrau Railway . In 2011 it was relocated again and has since been part of the Eiger Walk adventure hiking trail that was newly created in 2011 . The hut stands as a small exhibition building in which mountaineering equipment from different eras is shown, between the Eigergletscher and Fallboden stations near the Loucherflue.
