The Mediterranean blue ling ( Molva macrophthalma , syn .: M. dypterygia macrophthalma, M. dipterygia elongata, M. elongata ), also called Mediterranean ling , is a marine fish from the order of the cod-like (Gadiformes) in the north-eastern Atlantic from the coasts Ireland across the Biscay and the coasts of the Iberian Peninsula to the western Mediterranean and there to the eastern Ionian Sea .

The Mediterranean blue ling has a slender and very long, eel-like elongated body and can reach a maximum length of 108 cm. As with the blue ling ( Molva dypterygia ), its tail stalk is noticeably narrower than that of the ling ( Molva molva ), the goatee is shorter. The lower jaw protrudes. The mandible is shorter than the diameter of the eye. The Mediterranean blue ling differs from the blue ling in its shorter pelvic fins. The Mediterranean blue ling is gray to brownish in color with a whitish belly. The rear edges of the unpaired fins are dark with white borders.
